The beauty and simplicity of paper
Advantages and charm of paper chandeliers
Paper chandeliers stand out for their unique combination of aesthetic charm and functionality. Light and airy, like the feather chandelier, they diffuse a soft, warm light, creating a welcoming ambience in any room. Their handcrafted look adds a touch of creativity and originality, making each piece unique. What’s more, a paper chandelier pendant light works as both lighting and decoration. They offer design flexibility, adaptable to a variety of interior styles, from contemporary settings to more traditional spaces. What’s more, because they’re so lightweight, they’re easy to install and move around, offering a practical and adaptable lighting solution.
Manufacturing techniques and materials used
Paper chandelier manufacture incorporates a variety of techniques, from complex origami to simpler cutting and folding. These techniques create a wide variety of shapes and patterns, from soft spheres to bold geometric forms. The materials used vary too, including traditional rice paper, sturdy papier-mâché and lightweight tissue paper. Some designs also incorporate wood or metal elements with glue to reinforce the structure or add decorative detail. In our collection, most models are made of paper or Japanese paper, some on a metal or wood frame. This variety in techniques and materials not only produces visually appealing chandeliers, but also addresses practical considerations such as durability and safety.
Large choice of paper chandelier shapes and patterns
Creations ranging from intricate origami to minimalist designs
Paper chandeliers offer a remarkable diversity of designs, from intricate origami structures to sleek, minimalist shapes. Origami creations demonstrate exceptional folding skill, transforming sheets of paper into three-dimensional works of art, with detailed patterns that uniquely capture the light. These pieces can be abstract representations or imitations of nature (animals, flowers, balloons, spheres, etc.). On the other hand, minimalist designs focus on simplicity and clarity, with soft shapes and clean lines that bring a subtle, modern touch to any space. These ceiling lights lend themselves to a variety of interiors, from playful children’s rooms to contemporary living rooms, each offering a distinct ambience and refined aesthetic.
An example of innovation
The Japanese Large Fish Shaped LED Chandelier is a striking example of innovation in paper chandeliers. This design combines a traditional Japanese look with modern lighting technologies, creating a fixture that is both a work of art and an efficient source of light. The choice of a fish motif is inspired by traditional Japanese aesthetics, offering a look that’s both playful and elegant. Its LED lighting gives bright, long-lasting light and uses less energy than an incandescent bulb. This chandelier is perfect for adding a bold design element to spaces such as living rooms or commercial spaces, where it can serve as an attractive focal point while providing functional lighting.
Where to install your paper chandelier?
Tips for choosing the right location in the home
When selecting a location for a paper chandelier, it’s crucial to consider the balance between aesthetics and functionality. For living rooms such as the lounge or dining room, opt for a central location where the suspended ceiling fixture can act as a focal point while diffusing soft, even light. In the bedroom, a paper chandelier above the bed or in a reading corner creates a soothing atmosphere. It’s important to avoid damp areas like the bathroom, and to keep the paper away from cooking steam in the kitchen, to preserve the paper’s durability. Also, make sure the chandelier is out of reach of children or pets to avoid accidental damage. Finally, consider the chandelier’s interaction with other decorative elements in the room to create visual harmony.
Using paper chandeliers in children’s rooms and creative spaces
Paper chandeliers are particularly suited to children’s bedrooms and creative spaces, thanks to their playful, airy look. In a child’s bedroom, choose a paper chandelier with a fun shape, such as an animal, or a touch of colour that stimulates the imagination and adds a touch of whimsy to the decor. Make sure the chandelier is securely fastened and out of reach to ensure children’s safety. In creative spaces like art studios, studios or home workspaces, a paper lampshade can provide inspiration and add a mood conducive to creativity. Opt for designs that reflect the personal style or theme of the space, favouring colours that encourage concentration and relaxation. These fixtures can also be used to delineate specific zones in an open space, or to add a distinctive artistic touch in relation to other decorative objects.
How to choose your paper chandelier?
To choose the ideal paper chandelier, start by considering the style and colour palette of your space. Select a design that complements or accentuates your current decor, whether it’s sleek and minimalist or more colourful and expressive. Consider the size of the room and the height of the ceiling to ensure an appropriate proportion between the chandelier and the surrounding space. In smaller rooms, a more compact chandelier avoids visual clutter, while in larger rooms, a larger chandelier can serve as an elegant focal point. In addition, evaluate the paper quality and construction of the chandelier to ensure its durability and safety, especially in high-traffic areas. Finally, don’t forget the lighting; make sure the chandelier will provide the best level of brightness for the mood and activities planned in the room.
Our paper chandeliers in detail
Almost every model in our selection is made of paper, sometimes Japanese paper, some on a metal frame and some with wood. All are white, one with touches of blue, so they bring a soft, clean glow to the room. Japandi and minimalist designs lead, alongside modern and Japanese pieces, in lantern, sphere, round, origami and animal shapes, such as the White Japandi Pleated Parchment Hanging Chandelier and the White Origami Style Hanging Chandelier.
Some models take E27 bulbs, one has integrated LED with three colour temperatures, and more than half come with bulbs included. Every model suits a living room and most a bedroom, and many also work as a paper chandelier pendant light in a dining room, hallway or above a staircase. All are shipped from our warehouse in China, in about 8 working days on average: the delivery time of each model is shown on its product page, and delivery in the UK is free on orders over £65.

FAQ on Paper Chandeliers
Are paper chandeliers safe to use in terms of fire risk?
Paper chandeliers are generally safe, but it’s crucial to use low-temperature bulbs like LEDs to minimize the risk. Also make sure that the paper does not come into direct contact with the bulb.
How to clean a paper chandelier without damaging it
Use a soft feather duster or dry cloth to gently dust your chandelier. Avoid water or liquid cleaners, which can damage the paper. Remember that paper is very sensitive to liquid splashes.
What are paper chandeliers made of?
It depends on the manufacturer and the specific materials used in the chandelier’s manufacture. Most of ours are made of paper or Japanese paper, some on a metal frame, and some add wood.
How can I make my own paper lampshade?
You can fold or pleat paper around a wire frame, but keep the paper well away from the bulb and use a low-heat LED bulb. If you prefer a finished look, a ready-made paper chandelier comes with its frame and fitting; have it connected by a qualified electrician.
