The Organic Elegance of Paper for Your Interior
Paper has now established itself as a masterful alternative to the industrial coldness of metal. This living and airy material instantly transforms your atmosphere into a haven of serenity. We observe a real craze for this visual lightness that immediately warms every room.
By passing through the natural fibres, light undergoes a delicate and poetic metamorphosis. This organic filter softens the rays to project subtle shadows on your walls. You then enjoy a homogeneous clarity, ideal for creating a soothing and warm atmosphere.
Adopting a paper light fixture also means favouring a light and authentic approach. Demanding buyers acclaim this material for its softness. On LightingConcepts.ie, we select these pieces for their sleek aesthetic and natural character.
After understanding the aesthetic interest of paper, you must now ask the right technical questions to avoid choosing the wrong model.
Selecting the Format According to Room Volume
Measure your space well before buying. A chandelier that is too small seems lost on the ceiling. Conversely, a giant pendant light overwhelms a small bedroom. Find the right visual balance.
Think about the ceiling height. The light fixture must not obstruct passage. Adjust the cable so that the structure floats above heads.
For large living rooms, dare to go for size. Imposing models structure the void. They become the focal point of your interior decoration without weighing down the air.
Observe the overall shape of the paper. Round globes soothe, while angular shapes energise. Adapt this choice according to the room’s use.
Checking Compatibility with LED Bulbs
Paper is a sensitive material. It does not support strong heat sources. LED bulbs are therefore mandatory here. They remain cool even after hours.
Look at the maximum power on the label. Never exceed the manufacturer’s recommendations. It is a safety issue for your paper fibres.
Choose a warm colour temperature. A warm white enhances the natural tones of the paper. This reinforces the cocooning aspect of your evening lighting.
Also check the bulb cap. Many models use standard E27, and some have integrated LED. Ensure the bulb fits easily into the structure without tearing it.
Varied Styles for Every Decorative Universe
Beyond the technical aspect, paper bends to all your style desires, from the most sober to the most eccentric.
The Scandinavian Spirit with Sleek Shapes
Nordic design loves white paper. Pair these pendant lights with light wood furniture. The mix of textures creates a very balanced interior. It is simple and effective.
Draw inspiration from very sober Japanese-style lines. Metal and paper structures recall traditional lanterns. They bring an immediate zen touch to your living room.
Install these models in your rest areas. The soft light helps to disconnect. It is perfect for a reading corner or a master bedroom.
Avoid overly bright colours here. Stick to white or off-white. Sobriety is the key to successfully achieving this Scandinavian look.
The Bohemian Charm of Textured Models
Boho style relies on relief. Choose crumpled or pleated paper. These imperfections give character to your light fixture, with an artisan feel.
Think about the walls too. A paper pendant light hung near a wall projects patterns onto it. The indirect lighting creates a mysterious and very intimate atmosphere in the evening.
Play with the accumulation of small formats. Hang several balls of different sizes. This creates a dynamic luminous cloud above a coffee table or bed.
Do not be afraid of earthier tones. Sand or ochre walls around white paper warm the space. It complements a decoration rich in green plants well.

Our paper lighting in detail
Three quarters of our paper lighting are pendant lights and the rest are chandeliers. Every model is white, in paper or Japanese paper, some with a metal frame. The style is mostly Japanese, with modern, Japandi, minimalist and Scandinavian pieces, and lantern, origami and sphere shapes dominate. Examples: the large white Japanese pleated paper pendant light, the Japandi pendant lamp with 3 asymmetric paper lampshades and the white origami-style hanging chandelier.
A quarter of the models take an E27 bulb and some have integrated LED, sometimes with three colour temperatures; many come with the light source included. Almost all ship from our warehouse in China, the rest from our warehouse in Spain, with the delivery time shown on each product page. Which paper light for which room? A large lantern pendant over the dining table or in the living room, a soft origami or pleated model in the bedroom, and a Japanese paper lamp in a hallway or on a staircase.

Frequently asked questions about paper lighting
Can you put fairy lights in paper lanterns?
Yes, LED fairy lights stay cool and are a common choice inside a paper lantern. Avoid incandescent bulbs and candles, which heat up and can scorch the paper.
What kind of paper is used for paper lamps?
Paper lamps use thin, translucent paper such as Japanese washi, stretched over a frame or folded into pleats. Our models are in white paper or Japanese paper, some with a metal frame.
What is the lampshade rule for a pendant light?
A common rule: add the length and width of the room in metres and multiply by 8 to 10 to get the shade diameter in centimetres. In a 4 x 3.5 m bedroom, that gives a shade of about 60 to 75 cm.
